Element 1: Foundations in Health and Safety
• The basis of occupational health and safety and the barriers to good standards.
• The moral, social and economic drivers for ensuring health and safety in the workplace, including; economic climate, globalisation, migrant workers, compensation claims and insured/uninsured costs.
• The role and objectives of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) and International Labour Standards and the levels of legal duties.
Element 2: Health and Safety Management Systems - Plan
• The key elements of Safety management systems; Plan-Do-Check-Act, ILO-OSH and OHSAS18001.
• The purpose and features of an effective health and safety policy and the areas of business it influences.
