To quote Mr. Omar Kureshi, the legendary sports journalist, “Hanif Mohammad electrified the cricketing world and can arguably be regarded as the best opening batsmen Pakistan has ever produced”. From humble beginnings against a touring MCC side, Hanif Mohammad was Pakistan’s Premier Openings Batsman for over two decades, scoring runs against all opposition, at home and away. Hanif Mohammad played 55 Tests for Pakistan scoring 3,915 runs at an average of just under 45. Amongst his masterful knocks was a first class record of 499 runs, later surpassed by Brian Lara. He received praise for his technique and concentration from his peers and predecessors, including the great Sir Donald Bradman. Perhaps his greatest Test innings was a monumental 337 against West Indies at Bridgetown, Barbados, in 1957-58, batting 16 hours and 10 minutes. Apart from making a record of the longest test innings which holds till today he saved a test match that Pakistan seemed certain to lose. That was the only triple century in a second innings of a Test Match at that time, and remained so for over 50 years until Brendon McCullum equaled the feat in 2014 against India. The framed photo limited edition memorabilia, autographed in original by the Little Master Hanif Mohammad, is from that historic Test. Along with the photograph is an article written by Dr. Saad Shafqat (who wrote Javed Miandad’s biography). The article first appeared on ESPNCricinfo.com, and is reproduced here with their permission. Living a quiet and retired life nowadays, Hanif Mohammad very kindly consented to sign 150 photographs. Elegantly framed for protection and display, we present this Framed Autographed Photo of the Little Master, to remind you of the feats of, in our opinion, the Greatest Batsman produced by Pakistan.
